Advanced audio processing algorithms produce a very clean output, free of artifacts. Sometimes I hear less negative impact with this EQ than using Equilibrium with similar settings.Other plugins from the same author: Augur, Phase90, Saro PhaseOneįree VST Filters PhaseOneCoyote Phase is a plugin that implements high-quality "phaser" effects. Great for transparent surgical cuts or light boosts. It doesn't enhance transient detail but then it doesn't smear or sound blurred either. This is still a great EQ, I generally gravitate to Ozone 5 EQ when I don't want it to leave much of an imprint. Still prefer the EQ on Ozone 5 Advanced but prefer the Limiter on Ozone 6. Vertigo VSM-3 - still demo'ing this plug-in but it's pretty impressive so far, not good for every mix, but I love how you can really hone in and tailor harmonic distortion that fits a song musically and quite often I find I need less EQ as it balances the tone of a track in a very musical manner.ĥ. Compliments my more coloured analog compressors nicely when needed.Ĥ. Vertigo VSC-2 - very nice clean (in an analog kind of way) sounding VCA compression. The Weiss is still my go-to for de-essing but for any other Dynamic EQ related tasks, Essence is engaged.ģ. DMG Essence - It's like having a Weiss DS-1 Mk3 in plug-in format only with more options, recall-ability and the option to run more instances if required. The best part is that regardless the setting, it sounds very good.

M/S, FIR, IIR, analog phase, full minimum phase and then the different impulse lengths. DMG Equilibrium - very versatile EQ as it can be set up to achieve pretty much any EQ task. Some recent plug-ins that have been getting some use in supporting my analog chain lately.ġ. Of course blending so its barely audible with a very short decay time). Sometimes it can liven up a track tonally in a way eq can't, and make it match the rest of the record. Use FIR mode with high impulse length, and DMG or 250 curves. Sometimes I find it sounds better than my Sontec or Barry Porter, if the track already has the perfect character and the relative characterless-ness of those boxes is still too much. I have not tested yet the now famous DMG Equilibrium. You should definitely give Equilibrium a go.

I was going to post the same thing Davis has just written!Īlong With Ozone and PSP plug-ins ( Xenon, Neon HR), I would include some not so new like Sonnox Inflator, De-esser and Fab Filter Pro L. The Foote is something I want to pick up myself this year, it gets so much love here! It can do subtle colouration very nicely and the dry / wet control is particularly useful for both dialling back on the effect and assessing the processing. The plugin is almost like a channel strip in the way you can affect frequency balance as well as dynamics and saturation. I like that the Drive control doesn't increase the gain and I really dig the harmonic count and balance controls in the Digital mode for mixing and stem work as well. Tony made some great choices on how the controls adjust various processing behind the scenes, using subtle first order and bax shelves for some of the tone controls.

The Manual really helps break down what the different controls do and it's very concise will take you 10-15 minutes to clock what each control is doing under the hood. I tend to use SDRR more for occasional stem work than mastering per-se but the Desk and Digital modes are the most useable for me. but on some tracks this is wonderful to useįlux Elixir - The limiter I most often end up using, when needing one Slate Digital VTM - I don't care what others say about it. and sometimes I even end up using the Imager, MBC or Exciter IZotope Ozone 5 Advanced - Great multi-tool for trying stuff out. IZotope RX4 - Remove noises and all of that stuff.įlux/Jünger LevelMagic - Leveling recordings of speech etc.īrainworx bx_control v2 - Nice and simple tool which I often find good use forīrainworx bx_dynEQ v2 - This is the dynamic EQ I mostly turn to when needing oneīrainworx bx_refinement - Simple and actually really good tool for taming the highs
Voxengo SPAN - I really don't think I should need this next to the other ones, but I still often use it Klanghelm VUMT - I use this to help me set the level of all tracks before I start working IZotope Insight - Sometimes (not very often) I feel like using this one instead HOFA ProjectTime - Keep track of the timeįlux Pure Analyzer - Helps me with all kinds of metering stuff.
